The Oceanarium and Education Welcomes the Author and Illustrator of The Secret Bay
The Oceanarium and Education Center partnered with Island Readers and Writers to organize “Explore The Secret Bay: Nature Writing & Art” with author Kim Ridley and illustrator Rebekah Raye of The Secret Bay. On Wednesday, July 30th, guests gathered at the Oceanarium to spend the afternoon exploring, drawing, and writing alongside author Kim Ridley and artist Rebekah Raye. Children aged 7 to 14 and their parents had the chance to meet and observe animals featured in the book, such as Mummichogs and hermit crabs at the Oceanarium touch tank, before participating in a workshop by Ridley and Raye, held outside right on the edge of the tidal salt marsh! Participants received a nature journal and a signed copy of The Secret Bay. The Secret Bay book is now featured on the Oceanarium salt marsh trail as this season’s story walk. You can walk and read it from July through October. To get your own copy of The Secret Bay, be sure to visit the Oceanarium museum shop!
