The Oceanarium, situated on the scenic Thomas Bay on Mount Desert Island, Maine, features a walking trail that takes you through and around the tidal salt marsh. While on the guided marsh tour visitors can stroll from the grassy meadow to the water's edge observing various wildlife and learning about the flora and fauna of the salt marsh, meadow, and intertidal zones.

Enjoy reading while you walk amidst the beauty of nature. Begin the book at the start of the trail, continue page by page as you trek, and discover how the story unfolds by the time you finish your walk. Our wonderful selection of children’s books presented in this way changes seasonally.
Salt Marsh Tour
Join our knowledgeable and passionate educators daily on a trail tour. While on the guided marsh tour visitors can stroll from the grassy meadow to the water’s edge observing various wildlife and learning about the flora and fauna of the salt marsh, meadow, and intertidal zones.
